The Farmers’ Markets are back! I am so excited to be able to tell you about events again!
This week kicks off the Annual Avoca Main Street’s Farmers’ Market and the brand-new Macedonia Farmers’ Market! Plus, Monday Markets will be back in Underwood starting in July! We have 3 fine options for you in rural Pott. Co! Avoca’s starts Wednesday night! Yes, it looks a little different than before, but you can still get produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, food truck meals, and even handmade soaps! Crafts are out for right now, but so many other things are still in and the “regulars” are back to serve you! So not only can you get freshly-picked local produce to cook up that healthy, or not-so-healthy (everything’s better with butter, bacon, and/or cheese), meal, but you will be helping local vendors and small businesses get back on their feet! Many of the businesses on Main Street will be open for you to shop there, as well! Avoca Main Street’s Market is well-known and fabulous! Social distancing rules will be followed, but the idea of getting out in the nice weather and seeing your neighbors again has to be appealing! Plus, the Avoca Main Street crew has gone all out to make this work despite all the regulations. Between Amber Mohr, the Main Street Director, and Linda Schumacher, the Market Chair, and all the vendors, they have re-invented and reformatted everything to make this work! So be sure to swing by between 5 and 7pm this Wednesday and if for some reason, this week doesn’t work, no worries. They will be open weekly till September 30th! Macedonia, however, is a whole new deal! Thanks to locals, Kathy Noble and Kathy Heaberlin, Macedonia is just getting started. They will be offering plants, succulents, and baked goods on the west side of Macedonia City Hall starting Saturday from 9-11am and will run every Saturday. The Macedonia Farmers’ Market is still looking for vendors. Although at this time, due to COVID, no craft vendors are allowed. However, if you would like to join the group with all the other usuals, please contact Kathy Noble at 712-326-5207. Guys, things sure aren’t back to “normal,” but here’s a good way to make it start feeling that way. These are outside, the food is good for you, you’re helping vendors make money again, and you’re giving yourself some goodness in a bag! #ShopLocal #SupportLocal #PottCounty
