Whether you’re a fan of corned beef, green beer, or Irish jigs, it’s St. Patty’s Day weekend and Pott. County is ready to help you celebrate! There’s something for everyone!
Where would be the logical place to celebrate St. Patty’s Day? St. Patrick’s Hall in Neola! The Neola Fire Dept. is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner from 4-7pm on the 16th with a free will donation. For all you non-corned beef fans, they will be having corned beef and cabbage as well as roast beef! Something for everyone! However, if you’re more of a soup fan, the Oakland Sharon Church has you covered. From 5 to 7pm on Saturday night, you can get chili, broccoli cheese, chicken noodle, or Irish stew with homemade bread (yum) and pies and desserts. Pies, people. Pies! The Oakland Sharon Church is located at the corner of Highway 6 and 370th St. I also have to recommend that if you know Tom, or not, the Carson Community Center is having a "Go Fund Tom" benefit Saturday night from 5 to 8pm. Dinner and a silent auction are included for Tom Henderson who recently underwent a kidney transplant. Any questions, call Jolene at 402-690-8705. But if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary for your St. Patrick’s Day weekend, well, Minden Bowl is having their 1st ever Bowling Tournament! Grab a team and get signed up to play on Saturday, the 16th! Tourney starts at noon. If you have visions of following that up with some good music, you have two options. The Back Forty in Macedonia will be hosting the Cole Rath Acoustic Band complete with drink specials, or you can head over to Newt’s Place in Shelby for Finding Dixie. They’re playing from 9 to midnight. But no worries for those of you that would rather sing than listen, Tailgators in Oakland has karaoke starting at 7pm and drink specials to give you a little liquid courage! However, if you’re really planning to live it up, you’re gonna need a driver. The Bar ‘N Grill in Carson has your beer ($8 green beer pitchers), your corned beef and cabbage, and get this: a $5 shuttle to get you home if you’re within a 20 mile radius! But for you real partiers ready to party the whole weekend away, The Station in Hancock has you covered! They have Ruebens for Saturday lunch, corned beef and cabbage for supper, drink specials including something called the Lucky Leprechaun Margarita (oh, yeah), and on Sunday, it’s Rueben Pizza and sandwiches and drinks, of course! Personally, I am a sucker for breakfast and the I-80 Sports Lounge in Underwood is setting you up! Green eggs, cheesy hashbrown casserole, and corned beef and cabbage starting at 6am on Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day! And if you’re a drinker, they have Guiness Blonde drafts on special as well as Irish car bombs and good old green aluminum can Bud Lights! If you’re sleeping in till lunch on St. Patrick’s Day, you can then head over to Silo’s in Treynor. Although they are normally closed on Sundays, they are making it a special occasion day with corned beef, cabbage, baby red potatoes, carrots, and of course, green beer! If you’re looking for some corned beef and cabbage with an added few drinks, the Crescent Roadhouse Bar & Grill will be serving corned beef and cabbage all day Saturday for only $5 bucks! Or if you’d rather do your good deed for the day, the Carson United Methodist Church women are hosting a St. Patty’s Day meal for a free will donation. Think corned beef and cabbage, but ham for you non-corned beef lovers, along with rolls, dessert, and ice cream! Needless to say, there are plenty of options to keep you fed and entertained this weekend! So put on your green and kick that spring fever with some good old-fashioned Pott. Co. fun!
