It’s another big week in Pott. County, and we have lots of event options for you! There’s no way you’ll be bored this weekend!
The festivities kick off Friday with White & Yellow hosting a pop-up in Avoca! Local college student, Jess Wise and her crew will be at The Latest Thing from 11am – 6pm selling their Iowa-friendly products. Get your 712 gear and support proudly! Then head off so you can grab your plants and produce at the Farmer's Market in Oakland! Also starting Friday night, the Grist Mill Theater in Macedonia will be putting on the show, "Bedtime Stories (As Told by our Dad)(Who Messed Them Up).” It’s a cute comedy with a lot of younger cast members that even your kids will want to see! The show runs through Sunday so you can catch the production that fits your schedule. Of course, you can’t go to Macedonia without stops at the other great venues. The Painted Camel Art Gallery will be hosting an open house prior to each of the shows and the Stempel Bird Museum and Pioneer Trail Museum will also be open for your perusing. Plus, the Back 40 will be ready to feed you! They just recently added new menu items including some fab homemade onion rings you’ll definitely want to try! Saturday kicks off with Junkwood in Underwood from 8am to 3pm! Find the perfect upcycled treasures for your house décor or the perfect one-of-kind gift for that wedding you have coming up or for that dad that’s impossible to buy for! With new vendors and inside and outside booths totally almost 100, you will have plenty to pick from! Underwood goes all out for this day, and you won’t want to miss it! From there, you can move on to Boogie & BBQ in Carson at The Bar’N and Grill from 2-6pm! I mean, how can you go wrong with an event titled that??? Summer, music, the sun, drinks, and smoked meats – yes please! They’ll have you all warmed up for heading on the Dreamland Theatre to catch a movie or onto a performance at the Grist Mill in ‘Donia! If you’d prefer something a little more educational, the speaker series featuring Doug Ladd will be happening in Crescent. His topic for the day, “Prairies, People, and Place.” Catch him at 4pm at the Hitchcock Nature Center and before, or after, you can hit the trails for a hike. Everything is in bloom right now, and you can’t beat the view! However, if you’re more of an eater than an exerciser (lol), head over to Silo’s in Treynor for their Prime Rib Saturday Night! Um, there are few things I love more than prime rib! And I hear Silo’s won’t disappoint! Sunday brings more good options! Have that good old-fashioned, downhome-cooked meal at the DCC Chicken Dinner in Macedonia at the DeWitt building from 11am to 1pm. We’re talking just the way grandma made it! And talk about fun! They follow up lunch with the Rubber Ducky Race on the Nishna Botna River at 1pm! How cool and fun is that? Kid or not, you can’t help but love watching the ducks float! Of course, your other option is to check out the newest wedding/corporate event venue in Pott. Co! The Palace Event Center, just outside of Treynor, will be hosting their first-ever open house at 1pm. See. There’s tons to pick from! And if I missed something, let me know!
